Are Hartals a Necessity?

Hartals – Bandhs with a new over coat – are disrupting the life of ordinary people in our country. The politicians enjoy a normal life whether it be a hartal day or any other day. They travel with police security while the ordinary people suffer.

The politicians should understand that they are causing a loss of lakhs of rupees to the people and hence to the government besides destroying numerous public and private properties. What do they get by doing such activities? Definitely these type of protests are losing public sympathy. Then for whom they are doing this? Is it for their cheap political gains?

If the political parties are protesting for a right cause, they will get public support. Today’s hartal is for an issue which affects the normal people. But they’ve already protested through a hartal a few days back. Again a hartal for the same cause by the same party. It’s ridiculous. Instead of disturbing the life of ordinary people, why can’t they disturb the life of only those who are involved in this decision? Or is it because they don’t have the guts to do so? Officials won’t change their mind because the so called ‘aam admi’ is suffering.

It is high time for the politicians to change their outlook. We are living in 21st century. We should keep ourselves up with the pace of the world. If the people of India doesn’t change their outlook, we are going to reach nowhere in 2020.

  2. Struggles are contineous, It will no start with and end in one day... Now i see people talk saying that we had a harthal last day why the need for other...Now a small protion of people are not ready to sacrifice anything in there life and are not worried about future generation or for suffering people those people says like this because for them a 3 rs increase in fuel price doesnt affect that much or they are least worried as for them money is excess. Thing you cannot achieve anything in one day. Now the small portion of people thinks protest as simple as taking money from ATM and its one time effort. See The People didnt start for the struggle for independence or any other revolution on the day before they achieved it. It was a long struggle for years.... Becuse we are saying it to the deaf years of those people who dont understand "common people issue" so it takes some time for those deaf years to undertand.... Band or Hartal is not a show off for one day but its a start of struggle to revert the bad decision taken aganist the pople

  3. You cannot compare Struggle 4 Independence with this protest. Read Para 3. Nobody is against conducting a hartal for a right cause. But why they are doing it continuously. This is the second one in Kerala with in ten days by the left. Was that necessary? They are denying the rights of common people. They say that they are exempting essential services. But this promise is violated several times. We will only realize it when we or our family members suffer.

  4. And 1 more thing - if they conduct continuous hartals, will the officials revert their decision? I don't think so. We should disrupt their normal life not of one who suffer already. Daily wage earners are the most affected.
