The Presidential Race…

The race for the top post had already began in the capital. But the question is how many of them are actually eligible for this post? Whether he/she should be a politician?

It would be better if we choose somebody other than politicians. Since Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam had used his powers judiciously and for the people while he was the President rather than acting as a puppet, he couldn’t get a second chance. But the UPA govt. should show the courage at least now to give him a second chance. The government should come to a consensus with the opposition and other political parties to give him a second term as the President of India. Majority of Indians want to see this happen in July when Pratibha Patil steps down.

As an ordinary citizen of India, we can only hope for the best. These are the situations when the so called 'People's Power' becomes a mere spectator. Everything is ruled by politicians (they are the people’s representative but in majority of cases, this is not true. They can act only as a representative of the political party). Politics is not a mere profession. It should be a social service. I don’t have the opinion that all politicians are not good or corrupt. But a single drop of poison is enough to contaminate a full bucket of water. Being a citizen of India, our responsibility is to filter these drops from falling into the bucket. Now we don’t have any other choice other than to wait till the next general elections.

  1. Arun, I appreciate your efforts. Evadinne copy adiche de ;)

Overall, well written.. But I suggest you watch news regularly. You have misquoted an important issue. It was not UPA who rejected Dr. Kalam's nomination as President for a second term. It was the sole decision of Dr. Kalam not to contest due to the personal reasons he had cited. Nevertheless, we need people like him at the helm of affairs. Having said this, I also say and believe personally that Dr. Pranab Mukherjee is also a fit candidate.

  2. Thanx for ur comment...
I agree with you...but why Kalam declined??whether it was bcoz of the pressure from some political parties????i have so many questions in my mind...but u may remember when Kalam has declined, after UPA didn't showed any interest in his candidature..n sm news channels said that he is having some pressure from UPA...i also feel that Pranab is a perfect candidate if we exclude Kalam....but at the same time we are losing a good economist from the govt..lets wait n see how UPA will adjust without him...
